More Freaky Russians

Argh! How much it would suck to be his off-spring. “What would you like me to throw at you tonight? Knives or darts?”

This Russian guy is a policeman with a penchant for playing like Carney Folk. Oh contrare! Take a look at the video to see what he subjects his two daughters too.

True – the mind is such a malleable object and pain is subjectable; therefore it makes sense that one can learn to ‘control’ the pain response. However…holy crap. I for one would not like to be his human dart-board, or sideshow cohort. Ouchy.

Creative Website Spotlight: Alex Buga

Alex Buga site

I like a good creative website just as much as the next techie, web nerd so I’ve decided I should post some of the cool sites I’ve come across and get back to posting some of the more cutting edge design floating around out there on the interwebs.

Sure, it’s not always made to be legit and pass every coding rule-book, but like many designers’ personal websites, experimental can be fun. I wanted to do something more experimental for my revamp, but time wouldn’t allow. Not yet anyhoo…

Check out Alex Buga’s site for fun in the meantime.
Complete with mini-drum machine if you feel the urge to bash out some angst.

Unhappy Hipsters – Rich People and Clinical Living

Posted by The Design Assassin (Admin) On July - 31 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

I remember liking this blog when it first started. And least it seems to be updated with much more regularity these days.

Sarcasm meets the modern world. A nice deconstruction.

So despite the term ‘hipster’ being used these days as a general reference to tight-jean wearing, educated, artsy, anaemic types, this blog is not about that kinda hipster.
It depicts house owners in their uber-modern abodes, generally ripped from the pages of Dwell magazine, somewhat recontextualised with witty comments.

Embrace Your Inner Rock Star, Yeah!

Having been part of the music industry for many years, I can honestly say that I have never encountered this LIVE. Hopefully I never have to.

I think inspiration is drawn from a range of sources – everyone from Iggy Pop to a 1980’s Schwarzenegger, with a hint of Hippy-Artist-who-likes-Nudist-Camps thrown in for good measure.

Logorama: French Animated Short

Posted by The Design Assassin (Admin) On April - 18 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

This is a short film that was directed by the French animation collective H5 (François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy + Ludovic Houplain).

It appeared at the Cannes Film Festival 2009 and also opened the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. In 2010 it won an Academy Award (in the category of animated short).

Found this cool little quirky vid which combines Cinema 4D reality with After Effects.

It’s short but I like it. Movie: “Vanishing Point” by Takuya Hosogane (a motion graphics editor from Japan).

As if this German Forklift Safety video isn’t the best safety video ever!!!!!!

I’m sure the script writer was channelling Monty Python (or taking acid) when he concocted this one. CLASSIC! It’s Gold…

Oh Klaus – when will you ever  learn??

Rejected – Best Oscar Award Winner Movie

Goes for 10 minutes so you may want to watch it when you have a Smoko – do these excuses for breaks even exist anymore, or is there a workplace ban on them too? Make sure you catch the end where it gets more creative ;-)
